DIT releases Software tool CDs in seven Indian languages

The Indian Department of Information Technology (DIT) is planning to bring out CDs containing software tools and fonts in seven Indian Languages for free distribution to pubic. < ?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

 

The Minister of IT, Dayanidhi Maran  is releasing all the seven CDs of Assamese, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi and Urdu on January 24, 2007. DIT is taking initiating step to bring about Language Computing technology revolution in the country. Till now DIT has released CDs in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu. Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC) has developed these CDs under the Administrative Control of Department of Information Technology. These CDs are featured with keyboard driver, multi-font keyboard engine for true type fonts, Unicode compliant open type fonts, Unicode compliant keyboard driver, generic fonts code and storage code converter, localized version of BharateeyaOO, English version of BharateeyaOO, Spellchecker, bilingual dictionary, transliteration tool, language tutor package. People can download free these CDs from www.ildc.in and www.ildc.gov.in
