First e-School launched in South Africa

President of South Africa, Thabo Mbeki has launched six new New Partnership for Africa's Development (Nepad) e-Schools in the country.

The launch is part of the New Partnership for Africa's Development (Nepad) e-schools project. The first school would be equipped with an Hewlett Packard (HP) computer lab, complete with servers, ersonal computers, printers, faxes, scanners, copiers and wireless connectivity. The main of the project is to increase the use of technology in education and increase IT skills among students. Teachers and local community would be able to learn the ICT skills.
