e-Learning vendors offer soft skills programmes to Indian students

Gurukul Online, Tata Interactive Systems, and 24X7 Learning have partnered with different colleges to provide soft skills like communication skills, expertise in spoken English in a blended and interactive manner.

Recently, Bangalore based education firm, 24X7 Learning has tied up IIT-Roorkee, Mumbai-based SNDT College and Manipur-based Oinam College to impart skill enhancement programmes to undergraduates. While Mumbai-based Gurukul Online has also joined its hands with Mumbai and Pune colleges like Pillai College, Ghatkopar College, Thakur College, SPN Doshi College, Acharya College, MMK College and IBMR College to provide similar courses in Mumbai and Pune. Tata Interactive Systems (TIS) is also offering sophisticated skill enhancement programmes to students in leading institutes such as IIM-Kolkata , XLRI and SP Jain Institute of Management and Research. Currently, the estimate of e-Learning market in India is around INR 1,200 crore and is growing at 30% annually. These courses are likely to be effective because students would get a mix of both, online interaction and classroom coaching. Normal classroom practices like students raising questions, getting evaluators to clarify doubts, online quiz and assignments are also possible in this form of education.
