CBSE makes its helpline free of cost

A toll free helpline which provides support to students before the board exams has been introduced by the Central Board of Secondary Education's (CBSE). The 52 counselors across the country are just one call away. Now students can avail help from any part of the country at 1800-11-7002 instead of different numbers, free of cost. The operators of the helpline will answer the general queries of students and will also transfer their calls to the counselors for psychological counseling.

The toll free number was operationlised by February 1. The tele-helpline is supposed to serve students queries till April 8, 2010. It is for the first time that the Board has introduced a Centralized Access System akin to that of a call centre this year. Operated by 52 principals and trained counsellors from CBSE affiliated government and private schools along with psychologists and social scientists from 8 a.m. to midnight.
