400 IT students in southern India showcase skills in ‘iTalent’

As many as 400 IT students from 65 regional engineering colleges from the south India are participating in the two-day iTalent event, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), which began in the metro city Chennai last week.

iTalent's aim was to provide students exposure to best-in-class competitive landscape, as well as an opportunity for the industry to look at the best of students from institutions from the south, especially semi-urban colleges. 151 concept papers had been submitted for the contest, out of which 90 concepts were short-listed. As many as 30 teams, comprising 85 students, were finally selected to present 30 project proposals on stage. First five winners at iTalent would be given cash awards of Rs 75,000, Rs 50,000, Rs 25,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively. Leading IT companies like TCS, Verizon, Wipro, Cognizant Technology Solutions, Birla Soft, Sify were participating as job sponsors to recruit prospective candidates for employment at iTalent.
