Toshiba and Intel partner to provide PC for education

A tablet PC designed to facilitate learning in education, the CM1, is to be commercialised as a part of joint planning between Toshiba and Intel. Intel will be commercializing the CM1 to promote ICT education on a global basis with Toshiba. The tablet PC's monitor rotates 180 degrees and equips a 10.1-inch touchscreen LCD that supports pen input with a slip-resistant rubber coating. This new provision is to support students to practice handwriting and experience an enhanced learning process.

The LCD comes with a power-saving LED backlight. Weighing approximately 1.8kg, students can easily carry it to their schools or learning centers. Apart from this, to foster the ICT environment, the companies have planned to demonstrate the CM1 tablet PC at schools. The new CM1 tablet PC will be introduced in the beginning of August, 2010 in the Japanese market.
