The Union Human Resource Development Minister, Kapil Sibal and the Intel Managing Director (South Asia) R Sivakumar presented the 'Excellence in Education' awards to Kendriya Vidhyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and Navodaya Vidhyalaya Samiti (NVS) from across the country for integration of technology in educational practices in the teaching and learning process. Jointly organised by the Intel, KVS and NVS the contest 'Best integration of technology in education'aimed at strengthening ICT capabilities. The awards were presented to students and teachers of various Kendriya Vidhyalayas and Navodaya Vidyalayas for demonstrating exceptional performance in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in school curriculum. Eight schools, eight teachers and twelve students were awarded across six regions of the country.
Intel has been associated with KVS and NVS through its 'Intel Teach and Intel Learn' programmes which includes orientation of principals, professional development of teachers, sharing of new curriculum resources , learning materials and setting up of resource centers equipped with latest technologies. Till now more than 7500 teachers and 945 principals from KVs while in NVS around 6000 teachers and 450 principals have been trained on technology enhanced innovative learning methodology.
