Bangalore based Societe Generale Global Solution Centre (SG GSC), has launched a unique scholarship program, as part of its ongoing CSR initiatives, to promote professional education for needy individuals. Called the 'SG GSC India Talent Scholarship', this program is for needy individuals who have been selected for a full time course in one of the highly accredited universities & who do not have the financial means to enroll. Currently, SG GSC has tied up with IIM-B, IIM-Kozhikode, IIIT-B & IIT-Chennai to sponsor a total of 10 students for the current academic year. SG GSC would validate & endorse the proposed candidates & present the scholarships to the candidates in a specially organized function. Each of the selected candidates would be assigned a mentor from SG GSC to track progress on an on-going basis. SG GSC would sponsor the full course fees for the full term / duration of the course. On completion, successful candidates will be offered employment (which is optional to the students) with SG GSC or Societe Generale India.
Said Nippi Kochhar, CEO of SG GSC, 'There are thousands of students who are brilliant and get admission to top Tier Engineering Colleges & Management Schools but end up enrolling in mediocre institutions as they do not have the financial resources to pay the huge amount of fees. SG GSC has taken a major step in bridging this gap.'
'Unlike other corporates who only partly finance the fees, SG GSC is paying for the complete fees for the full term / duration of the course. The thinking behind this is that the student should focus entirely on his studies and not be burdened by the loan amount that he / his family has to repay.' added Nippi Kochhar. Well-known academicians like Prof Sadagopan of IIIT-B and Prof. Pankaj Chandra of IIM-B are whole-heartedly endorsing & supporting the initiative by SG GSC.
