University of California launches new preparatory programs for Indian students

University of California, Irvine has described an option for Indian high school graduates to be admitted to UC Irvine and successfully complete their undergraduate studies within the regular 4-year undergraduate study period. This option is called International Undergraduate Preparation Program (IUPP) which is a rigorous educational curriculum that prepares qualified students for undergraduate admission and academic success at UC Irvine.
“UC Irvine welcomes students from all over the world to experience first-hand what higher education in the United States can provide,” said Angelika P. Volkman, Director of International Programs at the University of California, Irvine. “Our international students in our undergraduate preparation program enjoyed a Fall 2011 admissions success rate of 98 percent,” she said addressing media persons on her recent visit in New Delhi.
Elaborating on the IUPP, Volkman said, they are excited to launch two new tracks perfect for Indian students: an Engineering track and a Biological Sciences track. Each track has a special curriculum of essential freshman courses that is designed and overseen by the respective school of Engineering or Biological Sciences. In fact, the schools are providing mentored study sessions to help IUPP participants in these two tracks succeed in their Engineering or Bio Science classes, she added.
