Top 100 schools Participates in the Presidency Challenge Cup 2012

Keen to nurture the talents of the youth and provide them necessary exposure, the Presidency Group of Institutions holds a competition named Presidency Challenge Cup since 2008, the year of its inception. More than 100 schools participated in various co-curricular activities resulting in the Presidency Challenge Cup 2012 (24TH & 25TH July 2012) held at NIMHANS Convention Centre, Bangalore.

Presidency Challenge Cup is one of the biggest literary events in Bangalore organized for the benefit of school students. For two eventful days NIMHANS Convention resonated with enthusiastic participants testing their spellings, oratory, debating skills and more than anything else their confidence. Competitions including Wordsmith (spell bee), Elocution (prose & poem), Quiz, and War of Words (Debate) were organized to add variety to the event. What added to the enthusiasm was the interesting array of prizes viz laptops, i pads, Tablets, e books etc that awaited the winners.

Some of the leading participating schools were: Kumarans School, Bangalore; The Brigade School, Bangalore; Jain International Residential School, Bangalore; National Public School, Bangalore; National Academy of Learning, Bangalore; Delhi Public School, Bangalore; Army Public School, Bangalore; Navrachna School, Vadodara; New Horizon Public School, Bangalore; Chinmaya International School, Coimbatore; Mahatma Montessori Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Madurai; Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Cochin

The Chief Guest for Inaugration of the Presidency Challenge Cup 2012 was Javagal Srinath, a former Indian Cricketer. Also present were the members of the Management of the Institution Nissar Ahmed, Chairman, Presidency Group of Institutions, Nafeesa Ahmed, Director, Presidency Group of Institutions and G Thangadurai, Director, Presidency Group of Schools. The maverick quiz master Giri Balasubramaniam, popularly known as Pickbrain hosted the event. Giri, incidentally holds seven Limca records to his credit for achievements in the area of quizzing and has hosted more than 1500 shows across 52 destinations in India and abroad.

Speaking on the occasion, Nissar Ahmed, Chairman, Presidency Group of Institutions said that the group which has been in the field of education for 4 decades now is glad to contribute to the growth and personality development of the youth. He added that it is a matter of joy to note that the event is not only popular but has also become a bench mark in the calendar of inter school competitions in Bangalore. Echoing similar sentiments, Nafeesa Ahmed -Director, Presidency Group of Institutions added that the literary event has also become a get together of its kind, a melting pot of talent.

G Thangadurai appreciated the efforts of the participants. He added that Presidency Group of schools is truly a wonderful learning community, wherein dedicated teachers and staff, work closely to promote communication skills and leadership qualities. Presidency Challenge Cup 2012 is organized to promote the extra co- curricular activities at state and International level. The stupendous support and patronage the event witnessed in its year of introduction in 2008, encouraged the group to introduce WOW- War of Words, Wordsmith and Elocution in the consecutive years. We have crossed a record number of 1100 participants this year.
