20 educational institutes to be elevated to world class standards

A regulatory structure would soon be set up by the government to elevate the current status of 10 public and 10 private educational institutions to world-class teaching and research institutions. This was said by Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Smriti Irani in the Lok Sabha on Monday, May 2. during the Question Hour.

BJP member Uday Pratap Singh had asked whether the government has identified or proposed to identify central universities or institutions that are likely to make their mark globally in the field of education and research. The government is yet to allocate funds for the proposal, but will provide adequate support to assist 10 public institutions, Irani said.
