The application process for Kishor Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) Aptitude Test has started and is open for Indian nationals. The process started on 16 July and the last date to apply for the test is 23 August, 2017.
The exam is scheduled to be held in 54 cities on 5 November, 2017.
Initiated and funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, KVPY is an ongoing National Programme of Fellowship in Basic Sciences and meant to identify and give scholarships to deserving students for basic science courses and research career in the field of science.
However, as per the interim order of the High Court of Karnataka, Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) / Person of Indian Origin (PIO) students will be allowed to write the KVPY Aptitude Test 2017.
Stream SA: Students in XI Standard with the Science Subjects in the academic year 2017-18 with a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in Mathematics and Science subjects in the X Standard Board Examination.
Stream SX: Students in XII Standard/ (+2) (Science subjects) during the academic year 2017-18 and with a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in Mathematics and Science subjects (Physics/Chemistry/Biology) in the X Standard Board Examination.
Stream SB: Students in the 1st year of the undergraduate program in Basic Sciences, Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics & Biology leading to
B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S. during the academic year 2017-18 with a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in Mathematics and Science subjects (Physics/Chemistry/Biology) in the XII Standard Board Examination.
For all three streams, during 1st to 3rd years of B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math. / Integrated M.Sc. /M.S., a monthly grant of Rs 5,000 and an annual contingency grant of Rs 20,000.
During M.Sc. or 4th to 5th years of Integrated M.Sc. /M.S./M.Math./M.Stat., there will be a monthly grant of Rs 7,000 and an annual contingency grant of Rs 28,000.
