India’s Digital Infrastructure for Knowledge Sharing (DIKSHA) has emerged as the country’s flagship digital learning platform, transforming the way school education is delivered through technology. Developed under the Ministry of Education as part of the PM eVIDYA initiative, DIKSHA serves as the “One Nation, One Digital Platform” for school education, offering curriculum-aligned learning resources to students, teachers, parents, and education administrators across the country. Launched in 2017, the platform is spearheaded by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) in collaboration with the Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET).
Designed as an open-source and multilingual platform, DIKSHA supports learners from Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) to Class XII, enabling states and Union Territories to customise content according to their respective curricula. The platform provides a wide range of interactive digital resources, including videos, 2D and 3D animations, augmented reality (AR) experiences, simulations, virtual laboratories, competency-based assessments, practice questions, and QR code-enabled Energised Textbooks that seamlessly connect printed textbooks with digital learning material.
Accessibility remains a core focus of the platform. DIKSHA offers DAISY (Digital Accessible Information System) content, text-to-speech functionality, and Indian Sign Language (ISL) videos to ensure that learners with visual or hearing impairments can access quality educational resources. The platform also supports personalised learning through adaptive assessments and detailed performance analytics, helping students identify learning gaps while enabling teachers to provide targeted academic support.
Beyond student learning, DIKSHA has become a major hub for teacher professional development. It hosts NISHTHA and state-specific Teacher Professional Development (TPD) programmes, allowing educators to undertake self-paced certified courses, improve digital teaching skills, and access classroom-ready instructional resources. Continuous content validation by CIET-NCERT ensures that learning materials remain accurate, age-appropriate, curriculum-aligned, and available in multiple Indian languages.
The platform’s nationwide adoption highlights its growing impact on India’s digital education ecosystem. According to the Ministry of Education, DIKSHA has been adopted by nearly all States and Union Territories, making it one of the largest digital public infrastructures for school education. Earlier official data also indicate that the platform has facilitated over 495 crore learning sessions, accumulated 5,749 crore learning minutes, recorded 3,813 crore page hits, hosts over 2.91 lakh digital learning resources, includes 6,477 QR-coded Energised Textbooks, and has registered more than 15 crore course enrolments, with over 47 lakh teachers benefiting from professional development programmes.

By integrating technology, multilingual content, accessibility features, teacher training, and data-driven learning into a single ecosystem, DIKSHA continues to strengthen the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and build a future-ready education system. As digital learning becomes an integral part of classroom education, DIKSHA stands at the forefront of India’s efforts to make high-quality education accessible, inclusive, and scalable for millions of learners nationwide.
