The Telangana Engineering, Agriculture and Pharmacy Common Entrance Test (TG EAPCET) 2026 engineering mock seat allotment has left 8,740 candidates without seats, even though an equal number of seats remained vacant across participating institutions. According to the Technical Education Department, the mismatch occurred because many candidates opted for a limited number of web options during the counselling process, reducing their chances of securing an allotment.
The mock allotment data shows that 88,062 candidates exercised web options for admission against 88,053 available seats in 175 engineering colleges. Of these, 79,313 seats were allotted, while 8,740 seats remained vacant. Officials clarified that the vacant seats and the number of students left without allotments were a result of candidates restricting their preferred college and course choices rather than an overall shortage of seats.

Admissions Convener and Commissioner of Technical Education A. Sridevasena explained that the mock allotment is intended to help students assess their likely admission outcome before the final seat allocation. Candidates have been advised to review their results carefully and modify their web options between July 5 and July 7 to improve their chances of securing admission in the first phase. If candidates do not revise their preferences, the same options submitted for the mock round will be considered for the final allotment.
The first phase provisional seat allotment is scheduled to be released on or before July 10. Officials have urged candidates to exercise as many relevant web options as possible, including a wider range of colleges and branches, to maximize their chances of obtaining a seat. The counselling authorities believe that broader preference selection will significantly reduce the number of unallotted candidates in the final admission round.
