The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has started the counselling process for the Special Scholarship Scheme for Students of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh (SSSJKL) for the 2026-27 academic year. Implemented under the Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Protsahan (PM-USP) Yojana, the initiative supports eligible students from the two Union Territories in pursuing higher education across the country.

Registered candidates are required to complete document verification at their assigned Facilitation-cum-Document Verification Centres (FDVCs) before taking part in choice filling, merit list publication, seat allotment and admission, according to the official counselling schedule.

The scholarship provides financial support based on the course selected. Students pursuing general degree programmes can receive up to ₹30,000 annually towards academic fees, while those enrolled in professional programmes such as Engineering, Nursing, Pharmacy, Architecture, Hotel Management and Law are eligible for assistance of up to ₹1.25 lakh per year. For MBBS, BDS and other equivalent medical courses, the scholarship covers academic fees of up to ₹3 lakh annually. Engineering diploma holders admitted through lateral entry are also eligible for financial support of up to ₹1.25 lakh per year.

Along with tuition fee assistance, selected students will receive a maintenance grant of ₹1 lakh per year, which will be credited in ten instalments through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).

To be eligible, Class 12 applicants must have completed their schooling in Jammu & Kashmir or Ladakh and passed their board examinations in 2025 or 2026. Diploma applicants should have earned their diploma from the Jammu & Kashmir Board of Technical Education during the 2025-26 academic session. AICTE has urged all registered candidates to complete the verification process within the prescribed timeline to avoid delays in the counselling and admission process.
