The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has partnered with Pegasystems to introduce a nationwide virtual internship programme aimed at preparing engineering students for careers in the AI-powered digital economy. The initiative has witnessed an encouraging response, attracting nearly 75,000 registrations from more than 1,500 colleges across the country.
Delivered in collaboration with Smartbridge Educational Services, the five-week internship will provide students with practical training in generative AI, agentic engineering, workflow automation, enterprise transformation, and Pega Blueprint, Pegasystems’ AI-powered application development platform. The programme recorded over 10,000 registrations within just 10 days of opening applications, reflecting the growing demand for AI-focused industry training.

Commenting on the initiative, Deepak Visweswaraiah, Managing Director of Pegasystems India, said the strong response demonstrates that students are proactively seeking opportunities to build enterprise AI skills. Goutham Parcha, Vice President at Pegasystems, noted that the programme is designed to help students move beyond conventional coding by developing the ability to design AI-driven business solutions, a key aspect of agentic engineering.
The internship is also expected to serve as a stepping stone to Pegasystems’ revamped University Academic Program, which will be introduced in August with a curriculum focused on artificial intelligence and next-generation enterprise technologies.
