The University of Delhi’s School of Open Learning (SOL) will introduce one-year postgraduate programmes in the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode from the 2026-27 academic session, expanding academic opportunities for graduates of the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP). The registration process for admissions is expected to begin soon.
The newly launched one-year Master’s programmes will initially be offered in Commerce, Political Science, History, Hindi, and Sanskrit. Students who have completed a four-year undergraduate degree and meet the prescribed eligibility criteria and regulatory requirements will be eligible to apply. The initiative is designed to align with the evolving higher education framework while providing FYUP graduates with a faster pathway to postgraduate studies.

SOL Director Payal Mago clarified that the new one-year Master’s programmes are being introduced as an additional academic option and will operate alongside the existing two-year postgraduate courses. She stated that the current two-year programmes will continue without any changes, ensuring students have the flexibility to choose the format that best matches their educational qualifications and career aspirations.
The university also noted that the introduction of these programmes is expected to benefit learners from both regular and Open and Distance Learning backgrounds, further strengthening access to postgraduate education under the revised academic structure.
