Google has signed an academic MoU with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) to equip engineering students with industry-relevant skills, practical training and better employment opportunities.
The agreement was signed in Bengaluru by VTU Vice-Chancellor Prof. S. Vidyashankar and Sanjay Jain, Head of Google for Education India. The partnership will focus on AI, cloud computing, data science, cybersecurity and faculty development, helping students prepare for evolving industry requirements.
VTU, which has more than 220 engineering colleges and around three lakh students, said the collaboration will strengthen skill-based education and improve students’ employability. Google will also train faculty members and introduce learning models aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) and State Education Policy (SEP).

VTU also announced new partnerships with SEEL, Bharat Skills Institute Foundation and Simulation Enabled Experiential Learning (SEEL). Qualcomm’s collaboration will support programmes in AI, embedded systems, IoT and product prototyping, along with the establishment of a Centre of Excellence in Edge AI.
Bharat Skills Foundation plans to establish a skill development centre in phases, while SEEL will provide students with access to cloud-based virtual labs, GATE preparation resources, industry courses, AI-powered mock interviews, internships, projects, webinars and expert-led workshops.
The initiatives aim to strengthen industry-academia collaboration and prepare engineering and management students for the future workforce.
