How AI is Reshaping Education?

The conversation around artificial intelligence in education often swings between excitement and uncertainty. While some see AI as a disruptive force, others view it as an opportunity to rethink how learning happens. At the Campus to Career Summit 2026, organised by the Higher Education Department, Government of Karnataka, in collaboration with KDEM and Elets Technomedia, Vivek Chandrasekharan, Head of Marketing and Software Solutions, Roombr Technologies delivered an insightful session on the role of artificial intelligence, personalised learning, and experiential technologies in shaping the future of education. The session explored how intelligent classroom solutions can help bridge learning gaps, support educators, and create more engaging learning experiences for students in an increasingly technology-driven world.

Addressing education leaders, academics, and institutional stakeholders, he began by acknowledging the contribution of educators to India’s growth story. He pointed to Bengaluru’s emergence as a global hub for technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship as a result of decades of investment in education and research. Institutions such as the Indian Institute of Science, ISRO, DRDO, and several other centres of excellence, he noted, helped create the foundation on which the city’s knowledge economy was built.

The heart of his address, however, focused on a challenge that educational institutions across the country continue to face, the widening gap between classroom learning and industry expectations.

Drawing attention to findings from the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Chandrasekharan highlighted the growing demand for personalised learning and the need to address skill gaps among learners. He argued that while institutions work tirelessly to equip students with knowledge, industries are evolving at an unprecedented pace. As a result, students increasingly turn to online learning platforms, open courseware, and professional certification programmes to supplement their education and remain industry-ready.

For him, this trend is not a criticism of traditional education. Instead, it reflects the reality of a rapidly changing world where learning must continue beyond textbooks and fixed curricula.

“The industry evolves at a much faster pace,” he observed during the session, stressing the importance of creating systems that support reinforcement and remedial learning within classrooms themselves.

His remarks touched on an issue many educators are already grappling with. In classrooms where students often learn at different speeds and with varying levels of understanding, delivering truly personalised attention remains a challenge. Technology, he suggested, can help bridge that gap by providing deeper insights into how students learn and where they need support.

A significant portion of the session focused on the role of artificial intelligence in making classrooms more responsive to individual learning needs. Vivek explained how AI can analyse classroom sessions, break lessons into smaller learning segments, and identify concepts that students may be struggling to understand. Such insights can help educators intervene more effectively and ensure that no learner is left behind.

One statement in particular captured the essence of his vision for the future of education.

“We are moving in a direction where we would like to build intelligent classrooms so educators can leverage the power of AI and personalization technology to actually do what they do best.”

The significance of this statement lies in what it implies about the role of teachers in an increasingly digital world. Rather than automating teaching, His vision places educators at the centre of the learning process. AI, in this context, becomes a support system, handling routine tasks, generating insights, and enabling teachers to focus on mentorship, critical thinking, and meaningful engagement with students.

Beyond artificial intelligence, he also spoke about the importance of experiential learning. Students today are surrounded by highly interactive digital experiences outside the classroom, and educational environments must evolve accordingly. Learning, he argued, becomes more impactful when students can see, interact with, and experience concepts rather than simply read about them.

This emphasis on engagement reflects a broader shift taking place across the education sector. Institutions are increasingly looking for ways to make classrooms more immersive, collaborative, and learner-centric. Whether through interactive technologies, digital content, or AI-powered tools, the goal remains the same: improving understanding and retention while keeping students actively involved in the learning process.

Another theme that emerged during the session was the need to reduce the administrative burden on teachers. From managing multiple devices to preparing assessments and reviewing student performance, educators often spend considerable time on tasks that take them away from teaching. Vivek suggested that integrated technology platforms can help streamline these responsibilities, allowing teachers to devote more energy to instruction and student development.

Looking ahead, he outlined a future in which educational institutions move beyond connected classrooms toward intelligent learning ecosystems. In such environments, data and analytics could provide insights not only at the classroom level but across entire campuses, helping administrators and educators make more informed decisions about learning outcomes and academic performance.

While the session showcased Roombr Technologies’ approach to digital learning, its broader message was about the evolving relationship between education and technology. His vision was not centred on gadgets or software alone. Instead, it was rooted in the belief that technology should serve a larger purpose, helping educators teach more effectively and enabling students to learn more meaningfully.

As schools, colleges, and universities continue to navigate rapid technological change, that message may prove particularly relevant. The future of education, as Chandrasekharan suggested, may not depend on replacing traditional teaching methods but on giving teachers the tools and insights they need to unlock every learner’s potential.
