Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Government has rolled out a comprehensive month-long academic and co-curricular programme for secondary schools in July, aimed at promoting students’ holistic development beyond classroom learning. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the initiative integrates academics with digital education, health awareness, career guidance, environmental conservation, and personality development.
According to the academic calendar issued by the Secondary Education Department, schools across the state will continue regular teaching while simultaneously conducting activities such as the Board examination application process, scholarship enrolments, ICT (Information and Communication Technology) training, career counselling, and continuous academic assessment.
The first unit tests for students of Classes 9 to 12 will be held during the second week of July. These assessments will evaluate students’ understanding of the syllabus covered between April and early July, along with homework assigned during the summer break.
The campaign also includes a series of awareness programmes such as National Doctors’ Day, Van Mahotsav, Road Safety Awareness Campaign, the Special Communicable Disease Control and Dastak Abhiyan, and psychometric-based career counselling sessions. These initiatives are designed to build awareness around health, environmental sustainability, road safety, and informed career planning.
Admission processes for Classes 9 to 12, Board examination registrations for Classes 10 and 12, and Class 11 registrations through the Pancham Portal will also be completed during the month. Schools will process scholarship applications to ensure that eligible students receive government benefits.

In addition, schools will conduct Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) meetings, strengthen Scout and Guide activities, promote yoga and sports, and organise cultural programmes under the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative, introducing students to the traditions and heritage of Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya.
Commenting on the initiative, Director of Secondary Education Pratap Singh Baghel said the July academic calendar has been designed to provide students with quality education while simultaneously developing leadership skills, digital proficiency, discipline, and social responsibility, ensuring their overall growth and preparedness for the future.
