IIT Madras is planning to expand beyond engineering and enter the field of medical education with the proposed establishment of a School of Medical Sciences.
IIT Madras Director Prof. V. Kamakoti has indicated that the institute is exploring plans to establish the school and eventually offer its own medical degrees.
The move could bring together engineering, artificial intelligence, healthcare, data science, robotics and medical research, creating opportunities for interdisciplinary education and innovation.
