Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced two major initiatives aimed at expanding education and technology opportunities for India’s youth: free online coaching for competitive examinations and AI skills training for 1 crore (10 million) young people over the next year.
The free coaching initiative will use India’s digital public infrastructure and a network of teachers and educators to provide accessible preparation for various competitive examinations. The move is aimed at reducing the financial burden of expensive private coaching, particularly for poor and middle-class families.

The announcements were made during Prime Minister Modi’s Independence Day address on August 15, 2026, with youth development and future-ready skills positioned as key elements of India’s broader development vision.
