The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has approved the purchase of 25 lakh tablets under the Swami Vivekanand Yuva Sashaktikaran Yojana to provide eligible youth with free digital devices for education, skill development and employment-related opportunities.
The tablets will be distributed to eligible students pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, diploma courses, skill-development training and other educational programmes. The initiative aims to improve access to digital learning resources and help young people connect with online training, employment and self-employment opportunities.
The state has allocated ₹2,374.60 crore for the scheme in 2026-27, which has been designed to strengthen the digital capabilities of Uttar Pradesh’s youth.

In another major decision, the Cabinet has increased the monthly stipend for MBBS interns from ₹12,000 to ₹25,000. The revision will provide an additional ₹13,000 per month to medical interns and strengthen support for students undergoing practical medical training.
The decisions underline the government’s focus on digital education, youth skilling and medical education, while improving access to technology and financial support for students and trainees across the state.
