The West Bengal Government has signed an MoU to implement the PM SHRI Schools scheme. The move will enable selected schools across the state to receive upgraded infrastructure and NEP 2020-aligned learning facilities.
The development was highlighted following a meeting between Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi and West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. The discussions also covered the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, which has crossed 50 lakh beneficiary households nationwide. Joshi urged the state to accelerate its implementation to extend affordable rooftop solar benefits to more families.

Why it matters:
- PM SHRI can strengthen school infrastructure and create better learning environments.
- Wider rooftop solar adoption can reduce household electricity costs and advance clean-energy goals.
- Improved Centre–State coordination can accelerate service delivery and deliver better citizen outcomes.
The development reflects how effective governance turns policy commitments into visible, on-ground impact.
