Jyothy Institute of Technology located at Bengaluru South is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University and is approved by AICTE having been established in the year 2011. JIT operates under the aegis of Sri Sharada Peetham, Sringeri and is governed through a governing council of highly eminent professionals from IISc, IIT, IIM, ISB and Industry. JIT has transformed with a promise of ushering a new philosophy by bringing, for the first time on the same platform, diverse components of science, engineering, business orientation and skill development with emphasis on innovation, incubation & research, leading to successful entrepreneurship. An understanding of all these three aspects thus forms the core of academic & research erudition at JIT and market research, alongside business planning, forms the basis of the enterprise component. The essential outcome of any academic pursuit, apart from imparting knowledge, should be to enable scholars to become readily employable or create their own industry, firm or enterprise. Hence, a state of the art research centre (CIIRC) and an incubation centre (AIC-JITF) have been established to nurture and hone the skills of budding scholars, researchers and entrepreneurs.
The institution offers Engineering programmes in the disciplines of AI & ML, Civil, Mechanical, Computer Science, Information Science and Electronics & Communication Engineering with the programmes being accredited by NBA. Besides this the Institution also offers Masters Programmes (in Data Science and Structural Engg) and Doctoral programmes in 12 domains having been recognized as a R&D Centre of Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) with an overall scholar strength of 1800+ on campus.
The institution has also established an exclusive Multidisciplinary R&D Centre CIIRC with research and innovation labs in 18 domains of S&T spread over 50000 Sq.ft having been developed at a cost of 50 Crores with a dedicated and exclusive team of scientists alongside a dedicated Sophisticated Instrument Facility housing instruments such as SEM, XRD, GC, FT-IR, DSC, TGA, Raman Spectrometer, PSA and a host of other equipment. Students in house and from outside have the benefit of utilising these facilities for carrying out their projects and internships.
(Domains of Affordable Medical Devices, Inks & Sensors, Ancient Indian S&T, Autonomous Systems, Biocomposites & Biopolymers, Cell & Molecular Biology, Computational Engg, Energy, Environment, Food Technology, Nanobiotechnology, Nanoscience & Engg, Plant & Microbial Technology, Remote Sensing & VLSI, Surfaces & Interfaces, Thermal Engg, Tribology, Water)
The institution has a dedicated team of teaching and research staff with 60 doctorates and 73 masters who are alumni of premier institutes such as IISc, IIT, NIT, Central, State and Foreign Universities.
The institution has also undertaken about 100 projects funded by by both government and private agencies such as DST, DRDO, DBT, MOES, DOS, VGST, KCTU, CEFIPRA, GITA, UGC-DAE, AYUSH, NCAOR which includes bilateral projects with France, Sweden, Belarus, ASEAN and Egypt.
In terms of its Publication record the faculty have numerous publications (~ 600 in last five years) in peer reviewed National and International Journals indexed in Scopus/Web of Science, Thomson Reuters and a no of books and book chapters published by major publishing houses such as springer, elsevier, macmillan and others.
The institution also offers technical and consultancy services to various organisations.
In terms of collaborations the institute has numerous R&D, Industrial, International and academic MOU’s for collaborative work.
The faculty of the institute have been conferred with the following awards and recognitions:

The Institution also hosts an Atal Incubation Centre funded by NITI Aayog, GoI. The institution has incubated 80+ start-up companies under AIC-JITF and the same have developed close to 100 products of relevance to society. The focus areas of AIC-JITF are Food Technology, Sensors & Devices (including IOT) and Materials. The incubation centre is spread over 30000 Sq.ft and has exclusive incubate space allotted to each start-up ranging from 50 sqft. To 800 sq.ft. AIC-JITF has also supported a number of ATL in mentoring them and has the active support of more than 20 mentors internally and 13 externally. One of its start –ups Mati Carbon won the Elon Musk X grand prize of 50 Million USD (~400 Crores INR) being the one and only one to do so worldwide.
In terms of its outreach activities the institute has adopted the local village Tataguni and helps to serve the village through various means.
