Budget 2021: Emphasis on NEP and establishment of Higher Education commission

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the establishment of a new central university in Leh, Ladakh, in her speech on the 2021 Union budget. CBSE all set to digitize records of students of last 45 years

The Central Board for Secondary Education will digitize the records of all CBSE students who have enrolled in the last 45 years. The announcement came during the Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal’s live interaction with the presidents and secretaries of the CBSE Sahodaya schools.

Govt cuts spending on school education by Rs 6,000 cr

In the first post-pandemic budget presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, spending on education fell by Rs 6,076 cr, from Rs 99,300 crore in 2020 to Rs 93,224 crore in 2021.This time, the budget for education is the lowest in three years, with the lowest tuition at almost Rs 5,000 cr, and the allocation for higher education has been reduced by around Rs 1,000 to Rs 38,350 crore.
