Apex Court ruling renders AICTE defunct
An April Supreme Court (SC) ruling has effectively rendered irrelevant the once-powerful regulatory body All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE). On 25 April, the apex court ruled that the Council does not have the authority to control or regulate professional colleges that are affiliated to universities.
J&K: State Gvt to Amend School Education Act 2002
Jammu and Kashmir State Government has decided to bring about amendment/augmentation in the J&K School Education Act 2002 so as to bring it at par with the Central RTE (The Right to Children to Free and Compulsory Education) Act-2009.
India to have 50 New Educational DTH Channels Soon
The HRD Ministry will be launching 50 DTH educational channels. Secretary (HE) Ashok Thakur said that these channels will be different from the existing programmes on air including Gyan Darshan as new one will be more interactive.
