Akshaya e-School programme to be launched in Malappattom, Kerala

The Malappattom grama panchayat will launch free computer training programme for primary school students in the panchayat under the Akshaya e-School project. < ?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

District Collector Ishita Roy will inaugurate the programme at RGM Memorial U.P. School, Malappattom, on Wednesday. Panchayat president K.C. Anilkumar said at a press conference that the project envisaged computer training for students studying in Classes III onwards in lower and upper primary schools. As many as 546 students will be benefited from the project. The facilities for the 15-hour training session are being readied by computer entrepreneurs of Akshaya. Those wanting to study more will be given adequate opportunity. Three computers will be installed in each school, he said. Mr. Anilkumar said the panchayat had earmarked Rs.80,000 for the project. With the completion of the project, Malappattom panchayat will be the first in the State to provide such facilities to all children. A workshop for teachers was held to ensure the smooth conduct of the project.
