On every Women’s Day, the rallying cry for empowering women echoes loudly, urging us to shatter glass ceilings. Yet, as I enter a room, an unspoken assessment of gender dynamics unfolds. In boardrooms, I ponder the scarcity of women decision-makers and those who voice their opinions. Questions linger about the representation of women in entrepreneurship, AI, and tech. Daily, I reflect on how often women’s voices resound and the struggles many face, from sabbaticals to compromised compensation.
Despite our empowerment, the call is clear – it’s time to translate rhetoric into action. We stand, empowered and sufficient, ready to extend the table of opportunities to every woman. The moment is now to invest in the potential of young girls, fostering ambition and dispelling doubts. Let’s move beyond the “what ifs” and, crucially, lend an attentive ear when a woman speaks.
The reality is stark – around 90% of women in technology feel that companies aren’t taking tangible steps to meet the contemporary demands of gender diversity (The Economic Times). To bridge this gap, firms must confront biases, close salary disparities, and actively provide mentorship. Regular feedback collection and the establishment of enabling structures can pave the way for a truly inclusive environment for women in tech.
The time for change is now, and it starts with acknowledging the issues and actively working towards a more equitable future.
