IIT Bhubaneswar is set to offer an advanced certificate programme in electric vehicle (EV) technology, aimed at equipping professionals and graduates with specialised skills in EV design and development. This nine-month course will cover key areas such as electric motors, controllers, and battery engineering, providing in-depth knowledge of the growing EV sector.
The curriculum will encompass a wide range of topics, including EV design, energy storage systems, charging infrastructure, supply chain dynamics, and sustainability. Delivered through a blend of live sessions, self-paced modules, hands-on labs, and industrial visits, the programme is designed to prepare learners for careers in the e-mobility and energy storage industries, according to IIT Bhubaneswar officials.
Soobhankar Pati, CEO of IIT Bhubaneswar Research and Entrepreneurship Park (IITBBS-REP), explained that the course will be primarily delivered digitally, with students required to attend practical sessions on campus twice—once for a 16-day session and again for a 21-day session. “There will be an interactive session for the students, and they will have the opportunity to undertake internships at the national institution, gaining hands-on experience with various startups,” Pati added. The course is tailored for technical professionals with a BTech degree who are keen to deepen their expertise in EV technology.
To facilitate this programme, IITBBS-REP has partnered with Nagpur-based Manifold EV Academy. Together, they will conduct both theoretical and laboratory sessions, while also collaborating on research, consulting, and training initiatives in electric vehicles and broader Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEV) technologies.
IIT Bhubaneswar Director Shreepad Karmalkar highlighted that the course will offer participants vital exposure to startups and industry, fostering industry-ready talent capable of driving real-world innovation for a sustainable future. He noted that students will gain practical learning, industry exposure, and networking opportunities during their time on campus.
