The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is planning to expand its reach to six more nations in South Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
IGNOU has received proposals from Syria, Botswana, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Yemen and Uganda. Apart from opening a centre, Botswana, Africa wants licensing rights of IGNOU study material. The authorities in Syria have approached IGNOU to help in capacity building. Uganda is interested in IGNOU's Post Graduation courses and Yemen is impressed due to its low cost educational system.
