The Director of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research(TIFR), Professor Shobo Bhattacharya has launched Wikipedia, an e-learning platform called SELF (http://www.selfproject.eu).

SELF stands for Science, Education and Learning in Freedom. Homi Bhabha Centre's knowledge lab developed a graphical web-based multilingual platform, SELF platform, which allows for collaborative authoring of courses and lessons, to organise and widely distribute them to various educational institutions the world over. The SELF project aims to provide a platform for the collaborative sharing and creation of open education and training materials. The project is initiated by an international consortium of seven partners
