CBSE to introduce course on gender sensitivity

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) plans to introduce a new subject in the curriculum with the aim of creating awareness about gender sensitivity and gender issues.

The course, set to be introduced in the 2013-14 academic session for Std XI, will be combined with human rights studies as well. The pilot will allow 50 schools in the country to offer this elective course.

The course will also focus on sensitive issues like the importance of respecting women and giving students a matured approach to their future. The course is being planned by senior members of the board.
