‘Open Day’ for school children at IIMA meets with enthusiasm

The Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM A) organised an Open Day for school children with a larger objective to connect and engage with the local community. Over 600 students from grades 8 to 12, representing nearly 20 schools across Ahmedabad participated in the Open Day at IIMA. The event was steered by students and faculty of IIMA to give the attendees a peek into life at IIMA and inspire school children through experience sharing and discussions. The Director of IIMA, Prof. Ashish Nanda, Deans, Prof Ajay Pandey and Prof Arvind Sahay also interacted with the school children.
Students were encouraged to come up with an innovative idea that would help make the community better, and the students were given some time to put their ideas on paper. The three best entries received an autographed copy of ‘Ignited Minds’ by Dr A P J Abdul Kalam. The best entries received a Letter of Invitation from the National Innovation Foundation to attend a session by Dr Kalam.
A panel discussion followed, which included current students of IIM A throwing light on their lives before IIM A, inside IIM A, the academic rigour and the extra-curricular activities, and what they expected from their lives once they graduated from IIM A. The school students asked many insightful questions to the faculty and IIM A students present on the occasion. The school children were later also taken on a campus walk.
