Country’s first digital university inaugurated in Kerala

Kerala University of Digital Science, Innovation and Technology

Kerala University of Digital Science, Innovation and Technology (KUDSIT), the country’s first digital university, was virtually launched by Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan. According to the university, KUDSIT is based at Technocity in Mangalapuram. The digital university was established through the modernization of the Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management in Kerala, which was a center of excellence in information technology established by the Kerala government.

The university is focused on creating futuristic universities offering postgraduate and research courses. According to the published statement, the university will open five schools of knowledge: the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering, the Faculty of Computational Sciences, the Faculty of Electronic Systems and Automation, the Faculty of Computer Science and the Faculty of Humanities and digital humans covering the science, technology and humanities aspects of the digital world.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinrayi Vijaran also presided over the online ceremony in which the university plaque was unveiled. The governor, who is also president of the university, said that the launch of the digital university was part of the state’s response to adopt and use new technologies to generate positive changes in people’s lives and become a global center of education and technology.

The governor praised the state government for recent initiatives in higher education, including the launch of the Sree Narayana Guru Open University, and stated that knowledge brings value, understanding, acceptance, unity, and frees people from ignorance. He added that the company expects the digital university to provide intellectual assistance in the opportunities offered by courses on artificial intelligence, blockchain, data analytics, and other digital transformation courses.

The prime minister said at the ceremony that the digital university aims to use developments in digital technology for social progress and that the benefits of digital technology should be available to people from different walks of life.
