CBSE releases new Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for Class 10 and 12

To help the students during lockdown, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Friday released updated Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for the Class 10 and 12 board exams 2020.

Students appearing in the CBSE Class 10 and Class 12 board exams 2020 can check the updated FAQs.

Students can check the updated FAQs on CBSE official site- cbse.nic.in

One of the updated FAQ tries to answer the query of a Class 11 student who has been detained in his class due to poor academic record.

He is worried that some of his friends have been promoted based on their earlier results. Another FAQ talks about board’s decision not to conduct any more exams for class 10 and class 12 students in schools abroad and what will happen to the results of the class 12 students.

Earlier, CBSE had announced that it will be conducting the class 10 and 12 examinations for only 29 main subjects which are crucial for promotion and admission to higher educational institutions.

The decision was taken after the Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal had a detailed meeting with the Education secretary Amit Khare and other top officials.

Haryana allows teachers to evaluate Class 10 sheets from homes

Amid lockdown, Board of school education Haryana (BSEH) has decided to allow teachers to check answer sheets of class 10th board exam’s from homes.

According to an official the board has assigned over 6,500 teachers to check answer copies of the class 10 students.

The official also said, “These teachers will report to their respective block education officer, who will give them a bundle 300 copies to be evaluated by April 21 and submit the same on April 22. The teachers have been given different time slots to appear before BEOs to maintain social distancing amid coronavirus scare.”

The board was initially planning to call teachers to centres to evaluate class 10 copies but it was cancelled to avoid gathering of teachers.

Nearly 3.71 lakh students had appeared for class 10 board exams before board postponed exams to be conducted from March 19 to 31.

PGIMER extends last of PG form submission

In the wake of Coroavirus outbreak, the last date to fill the application form for Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), has been extended till April 26, 2020.

The authorities have notified the extension of online registrations through notice. Earlier, the last date was April 16, 2020. It is important for medical graduates to apply for PGIMER entrance exam for admission to Masters of Surgery (MS) and Doctor of Medicine (MD) courses.

PG entrance exam will be conducted on May 25, 2020. No order for postponement of the computer-based test has been announced by the authority yet.

Aspirants who will be successfully registered for PGIMER can appear for postgraduate test.

Delhi University mulls to make admission process online

In the view of COVID-19 spread, Delhi University (DU) is considering to make its entire admission process online. The step has been taken to minimise the students’ visits to the varsity.

Although the varsity has put the registration process on hold due COVID-19, its admission branch is working towards strengthening the process.

The varsity has begun the process of collecting information from colleges.

In a letter to principals of all DU colleges Professor Shobha Bagai, Dean (Admissions) said, “There has been a conscious effort to minimise visits of the students for physical verification of the mandatory documents during the admission process”.

The letter also said, “In the current scenario, it has been recommended that it becomes more imperative to have the complete admission process online, which also includes the online verification of the certificates.”

In the letter, she also directed the colleges to constitute a “strong” admission team for the process.

“A team of reasonable number of student volunteers along with a Faculty Mentor be formed. The student volunteers must remain available during the time of admission to answer any related query pertaining to the admissions in the college,” the letter said.

DU had implemented the first phase of 10 per cent expansion in EWS (Economically Weaker Section) seats in 2019-20 and the remaining 15 per cent enhancement will be completed in 2020-21 academic session, according to the letter.

Punjab prepones summer vacations for schools

In the wake of Coronavirus spread, Punjab education minister Vijay Inder Singla informed that cabinet under the chairmanship of CM Captain Amarinder Singh has decided to prepone summer vacations of both government and private schools.

Singla said that now the one-month summer vacations will start from April 11 till May 10. The cabinet also decided to promote class V and VIII students of Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) based on their earlier examinations.

Singla also said that the parents were worried about loss of the study of their wards during the curfew and decision of preponing the vacations would give relief to them.

He added that all private schools should also have to start the vacations from April 11 but they are free to extend the period as per their requirement.

The cabinet minister said that PSEB has conducted three examinations of class V before imposition of curfew and now the cabinet has decided to cancel the remaining two papers.

HRD ministry seeks suggestions to boost online teaching

In the view of COVID-19 outbreak, the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) started a week-long campaign for crowd sourcing ideas for improving India’s online education system.

Union HRD minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ said that this campaign aims to invite suggestions from “all the best brains” in India. An official statement from the ministry said the suggestions, or solutions can be shared directly with the MHRD. The aim is to overcome constraints of online education while promoting the available digital education platforms, the statement said. The ideas can be shared on bharatpadheonline.mhrd@gmail.comand on Twitter by using #BharatPadheOnline up to April 16.

The minister also said that the students who are engaging with the existing digital platforms can share what is lacking in the existing online platforms and how to make them more engaging.

The HRD minister also asked educators across the country to come forward and contribute their expertise and experience in the field of education.

A conversation can be initiated with them on what they think an ideal online education ecosystem should look like, he said.

The MHRD has asked all educational institutions to focus on online learning since the country went into a lockdown for 21 days from March 25.

ICSE to declare results for 10th Class results, check at cisce.org

The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations will declare the 10th Board Results in May 2020. Students can check their results at cisce.org.

ICSE Board ran the Board Examination from February 2020 to March 2020. The number of schools that presented candidates in India & Abroad for the ICSE Examination is the number of applicants who appeared for the ICSE Examination is 1,75,299 and 2,106.

For releasing the Class 10th and plank result dates the CISCE Council will announce the official date.

The results are announced on various dates in May although looking at the past 4 years end result dates, CISCE usually declares the result from the month of May. So this year result is expected to be declared in May only.

– Visit the Indian School Certificate Examinations Official site- www.cisce.org.

– Click on ”Outcomes 2020″ Button.

– Candidates need to add Course Code, Candidate UID and finally the Captcha.

MCC releases results for NEET PG Counselling Result round 1

Amid Coronavirus outbreak, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has formally declared the NEET PG Counselling Result 2020 for the 1st round.

The MCC issued a formal notification on its website i.e. mcc.nic.in. According to the notification, the provisional result for NEET PG / MDS 2020 Counselling has been declared by the council and the final result will be out by 10th April 2020.

Candidates who had appeared for the 1st Round of Counselling can check their results online via official website i.e. mcc.nic.in.

As per the notification, around 13,237 MD/MS/PG Diploma and 1,144 MDS candidates have been shortlisted in the provisional result under the All India Quota (AIQ).

Shortlisted candidates will be given a chance to report to the respective medical colleges allotted to them by 20th April 2020. Considering the current lockdown due to Coronavirus outbreak, candidates will have the option to either physically visit the college and complete the admission formalities or they can report in online mode to allotted colleges.

IGNOU not to postpone June mid-term exams

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has clarified that the June term end exams have not been postponed.

The University has asked candidates to contact their regional centres and visit the official site for their queries regarding the exam.

Currently students who will appear for the term end exam in June are busy with their assignments and preparation.

So far IGNOU has extended the assignment submission date by a month.

IGNOU has also allowed them to submit their assignments online. It has asked students to scan their assignment and send them to their regional centers via email.

The regional centres will accept scanned copies of handwritten assignments through a dedicated email id and take care of the evaluation process.

Few students are worried about completing their assignments. They say due to lockdown they are unable to get writing materials to do their assignment.

Odisha govt asks private schools to defer fees till June

In the view of COVID-19 outbreak, the Odisha government has asked the private schools to reduce or defer the school fees till June.

The state government extended the lockdown period to April 30, becoming the first state to do so.

Schools and colleges have been ordered to remain shut till June 17.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has asked schools to be sympathetic while dealing with school fees. In his message to the private players, the CM said this will help the parents whose incomes have been adversely affected.

Students of Class 9 would be promoted to Class 10 for this academic session, following evaluation of the five papers for which exams had been conducted.

The School and Mass Education department has also formed a committee to take necessary measures for 2020-21 academic session.

Administration authorities at various places have urged private schools not to pressurize parents for paying fees.

Not only Odisha, Haryana and Rajasthan governments have also directed all private schools across the state to not pressurize the parents of the students to deposit any fees until the lockdown period is over.
