Turnitin brings new solution platform for students

In the view of spread of COVID-19 outbreak, schools and colleges are closed over the pandemic from mid-March. The Ed-Tech sector is taking online education to the next level in India and growing at a rapid pace. Most of the educational institutions have adopted online education platforms for their student.

Country’s leading ed-tech solutions, Turnitin has made available access to Gradescope, Feedback Studio and Turnitin SimCheck to enable higher education institutions across South Asia. The new platform will manage the disruption caused to their academic programs due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

We are equally ready to support other higher education institutions as well.”

The three new applications Gradescope, Feedback Studio and SimCheck will be available till June 30.

Turnitin leverages cutting-edge technology – machine learning, computer vision, and advanced artificial intelligence to enable instructors to provide real-time feedback for students.

MHA directs all educational institutions to be closed till May 3

Amid Coronavirus outbreak, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has asked all educational, training and coaching institutions will remain closed till May 3.

The schools, colleges and educational institutions across the country have been closed since the lockdown was imposed on March 25.

The new directive is part of the revised guidelines in the country during the extended lockdown period from April 15 till May 3.

Most of the educational institutions have taken to digital platforms so that the education of students does not suffer because of the lockdown.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has made text books available online so that the students can continue with their studies.

All board examinations and entrance tests have been postponed till the lockdown is lifted.

The authorities have also granted automatic promotion to students from Class 1 to 9 and Class 11.

CBSE provides online books for Classes 1 to 12

In a bid to help students study during the lockdown over COVID-19 outbreak, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has made books for classes 1 to 12 available online.

These books, developed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) are available in PDF format, as well as flipbooks in English and Hindi.

The books can be downloaded from NCERT’s website-http://ncert.nic.in/ebooks.html.

All the examinations have been postponed or cancelled and the schools shut down across the country from mid-March 25.

The authorities have decided to promote the students of Class 1 to 9 and Class 11 without examinations.

CBSE had notified that it would intimate the new exam dates 10 days before the examinations start, once the lockdown is over.

NTA extends JEE Main and NEET UG 2020 exams correction window

In the view of COVID-19 outbreak, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has extended the time window for the application correction for the JEE Main April 2020 and NEET UG 2020 examinations.

According to the notification, the application correction window will be available until the lockdown ends .i.e May 3, 2020.

Union HRD minister Ramesh Pokhriyal took to twitter to announce the news regarding the application correction for both the examinations.

According to the official notification shared by the HRD Minister the dates for the application correction for the JEE Main April 2020 and the NEET 2020 examinations dates were extended to May 3, 2020.

The changes in the application correction dates have been made due to the requests put forth by the parents of the students appearing for the examinations.

The notification adds that the NTA will make all the necessary efforts to make sure that the students receive their examination centre cities as per their choice of preference they have marked in the application form.

This is the third time that the NTA is changing the application correction dates for the JEE Main April 2020 and the NEET UG 2020 examinations.

The first two notifications are available on the official website of NTA.

Chandigarh to declare results of classes IX and XI soon

In the view of COVID-19 outbreak, many exams are postponed or cancelled. Not even exams, results are also delayed.

However, the Education Department, Chandigarh Administration, has decided to declare results for Classes IX and XI on April 20.

Earlier, results declared for Classes I to VIII as per the RTE rules on 31st March and all the students were promoted to the next respective classes.

The summer vacation has been preponed and scheduled from 15th April to 14th May.

The result would be declared on the website of the respective schools.

It would also be conveyed to students through text messages and WhatsApp messages.

The parents or students need not come to school for the same.

Subsequently, the students can start their study schedule from the online teaching, an initiative of the Education Department already functional.

Divya Lal said they have content from Nursery to Class 12th and content for every school is different. They even provide online demonstrations for schools.

She even added, “Things are not going to be simple after July as many new education models are coming and online education will be a part of it.

CBSE starts live fitness classes for students

To keep students fit during this lockdown, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has launched live fitness classes for students. The live classes were launched in collaboration with Fit India Mission.

The live classes will be conducted by experts and cover basic exercises, nutrition, yoga and meditation, and boosting immunity.

In its letter to the principals, the CBSE stated that along with ensuring classes are held online, “It is equally important to invest in children’s overall physical, emotional and mental well-being at home during this period.”

The live classes will commence on April 15 at 9.30 am and will continue for a period of one month.

The live sessions will be available on social media websites like YouTube, Facebook and Instagram.

Union HRD minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ tweeted on April 13 that he has spoken to Kiren Rijiju, minister of state for youth affairs and sports about a collaboration between CBSE and Fit India Mission.

“The overall objective of these sessions will be to help children stay fit and healthy while pursuing online classes as well as help them to cultivate a sustainable and active lifestyle right from their younger days,” CBSE said.

The board “Even a short burst of 10 minutes of physical activity positively increases mental alertness, energy and mood,” the board said.

Delhi University to conduct semester and year-end exams

Refuting all the reports, the University of Delhi has clarified that it will conduct the semester end and year-end examinations.

A notification released by the Dean of Examinations said: “The schedule and detailed guidelines of all such examinations will be notified on the official website of the university in due course”.

The decision will be made in adherence with the guidelines issued by Government of India/NCT of Delhi in relation with corona outbreak.

The notification also asked students to check the official website for any updates. It added, “Such information available only on the official website of the university should be considered final”.

The notification further stated, “Students registered with regular colleges, School of Open Learning and Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board are also advised to rely on their respective institute’s website, in addition to the university’s website for such updates”.

A report on higher education matters including academic sessions and examinations was supposed to be submitted on April 13 but was put off because there was a possibility of an extension of the lockdown.

AIIMS postpones July PG registrations

In the wake of COVID-19 spread, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences has postponed the AIIMS PG July 2020 final registration dates. The last dates for the July 2020 AIIMS PG registration will be provided soon.

This is the third time that the registration dates for the AIIMS July 2020 have been changed or postponed.

As per the notification the final registration was scheduled to be conducted in March, 2020.

Candidates who have applied for the AIIMS PG July 2020 session and are yet to apply can visit the official website of AIIMS i.e. aiimsexams.org.

The AIIMS PG examinations 2020 was scheduled to be conducted on May but has been cancelled due to the lockdown. The revised dates for the AIIMS PG July 2020 session examinations will be released online soon.

Only those candidates who have completed the basic registration process for the AIIMS PF 2020 examinations will be allowed to complete the final registration details. After entering the final registration details the candidates will be shortlisted for the admission procedure.

2. Private Educational Partnership : As in the past few weeks, we are witnessing coalitions taking place with diverse stakeholders viz. Publishers, Educational Professionals, Technology Providers Network operators, all coming together to utilise digital platform to beat the temporary crisis and becoming a consequential trend to future education.

3. The wide digital divide: As of our school, we know every school is beating hard finding a stop gap solutions to continue teaching. The less affluent and non digital savy individuals are no more left behind.

The Pandemic is also an opportunity to remind ourselves of the skills, students need in this unpredictable world such as informed decision making, creating creative minds and above all adaptibility. To ensure those skills remain a priority for all students, resilience must be built-into our educational forums as well.
