The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan and the leading Telecommunication Company, PTCL have joined together to launch an initiative to connect all universities of Pakistan through high-speed Internet.
Under this initiative, PTCL will connect 85 universities and soon it will connect to 134 universities of Pakistan. PTCL will ensure the provision of redundancies of this Internet and intranet of the university network and deploy a converged solution involving wireless and wire line technology. The initiative will enable Pakistani students and professors to engage and interact with the world in areas of advance knowledge pertaining to medicine, information technology, biomedical, biophysics, latest R&D and telemedicine in addition to the world of Arts & Literature.
