Smart Communications, Inc., leading wireless service provider will expand the Smart Schools Programme in Philippines by including 50 more public high schools and 30 public elementary schools nationwide this year.
The Department of Education (Deped) and the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) has signed an agreement with Smart Communications to expand the Smart school project. Under the Smart Schools Program, Smart constructs or upgrades computer laboratories into Smart Teachers Learning Resource Centers and provides free Internet connection for one year. Schools can make themselves most learning resource through the Smart schools website (www.smartschools.ph). The site offers access to online content that teachers can use for research, in making class presentations and in exchanging best practices with colleagues. The Smart Schools Program is implemented in cooperation with PBSP, Sweep and Learn.ph Foundation, with support from Deped.
