The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) will support youth development and capacity-building in education in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
Under this initiative, UNESCO will employ the Open School model, which was recently implemented in Brazil to reduce violence. UNESCO will develop best practices in youth development, strengthening national institutional capacities, and promoting tolerance, respect and social responsibility of the media. Cultural expression of youth and community, risk management, conflict resolution strategies for adults dealing with youth, and capacity-building for micro-entrepreneurship will be features of the initiative.
