National Monitoring Committee (NMC) has approved the proposal of National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT) to introduce textbooks on 'Human Ecology and Family Sciences (HEFS) for class XI.
Department of Women Studies of NCERT has developed the two-year syllabus. 'The book deals with issues like principles of social justice, gender sensitivity, diversity and plurality in urban and rural areas, concerns of homeless and low resources,' said Sushma Jaireth, Co-ordinator of textbooks. The content of the book has taken from five areas such as food and nutrition, human development and family studies, fabric and apparel, resources management and communication and extension.
