
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi recently said that the state government is looking to introduce biometric attendance system for teachers and students in government primary schools in rural areas. The process will help in monitoring dropout rates, and manage funds granted for various schemes.
The provincial chief is also in favour of using technology to track students’ performance.
The Gujarat government started the Shala Praveshotsav and Kanya Kelavani drives 11 years ago to promote primary education in the state. While the Shala Praveshotsav is aimed at ensuring a hundred percent enrollment in primary schools, the Kanya Kelavani Abhiyan aims at promoting education for the girl child.
