The Chennai government has announced to open an arts and science college in Tondiarpet, in Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s R K Nagar constituency. The college will start functioning from the 2015-16 academic year at Chennai Corporation-run middle school on a temporary basis as the construction is expected to be completed in two years.
This is the 54th institution to be inaugurated by the ruling dispensation since 2011. The college will have 11 teaching and 17 non-teaching staff in the first phase. The chief minister has given Rs.8.28 crore for setting up of the college.
