CBSE Board’s Secretary Anurag Tripathi issued a statement confirming holding of Board exams during a webinar on “New Education Policy (NEP): Brighter future of school education” organised by ASSOCHAM. Tripathi said that “”The board exams will happen for sure and a schedule will be announced very soon. The CBSE is making plans and will soon reveal how it will do test assessments.” However, he didn’t confirm if there would be any change in the exam time i.e. delay or postponement from the usual schedule for which exams are held in February – March 2020.
CBSE Board’s confirmation about holding of Board Exam 2021 comes amid calls from various stakeholders for cancellation of the examination. Owing to the COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdown, schools across the country have been closed for last 7 months i.e. since March 2020. Moreover, even those states where partial reopening of schools was attempted, several COVID cases among students and teachers have forced the state government to again close the schools.
