Sudhir Jain, Director, Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar has been awarded with the prestigious Padma Shri for distinguished service in the field of science and technology.
Jain is serving his third term as director of IIT, Gandhinagar and is the founding director of the institute. He took charge in June 2009.
He described this achievement as “a collective recognition of the entire community’s efforts, sacrifices, and hard work.”

Jain is a reputed scholar of earthquake engineering globally. Under his leadership, IITGN has introduced an innovative curriculum, involved in student affairs, faculty recruitment, focus on institutional management and promoting excellence.
