Madhya Pradesh boosts semiconductor education with forward-looking policy

Madhya Pradesh

In alignment with Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision for a thriving semiconductor ecosystem, Madhya Pradesh has launched the Madhya Pradesh Semiconductor Policy 2025, placing a strong emphasis on education and skill development in Electronics and VLSI design.

To address the rising demand for VLSI design engineers, the state government is equipping educational institutions with financial support and specialized training programs:

  • Engineering institutes will receive a one-time grant of Rs 20 lakh to introduce Electronics and VLSI design courses.
  • Faculty members will benefit from an annual Rs 50 lakh training fund, ensuring continuous upskilling.
  • Students will gain real-world exposure through internships under the Mukhyamantri Seekho Kamao Yojana (MMSKY), providing up to Rs 10,000 per month for six months.

Beyond academia, the state is also fostering innovation and entrepreneurship through the Chips to Startup (C2S) initiative. The policy includes:

  • Rs 50,000 per employee (or 50% of the cost) for technical skilling programs.
  • Support for academic tape-outs and chip fabrication with Rs 5 lakh per tape-out, enabling 100 indigenous chip designs over five years.
