Nord Anglia Education has been acquired by a consortium of investors in a deal valued at an impressive $14.5 billion, in a significant move within the global education sector,  The new ownership group includes EQT, Neuberger Berman Private Markets, CPP Investments, CF Alba, and Dubai Holding, signalling strong financial backing and strategic vision for the renowned education provider.

The acquisition covers Nord Anglia’s entire network of 80+ schools across 33 countries, educating over 90,000 students aged 2 to 18. In the UAE, all four Nord Anglia schools are included in the deal:

  • Nord Anglia International School Dubai

  • British International School Abu Dhabi

  • Nord Anglia International School Abu Dhabi

  • Swiss International Scientific School Dubai

Parents and educators seeking reassurance about the future of these institutions will find comfort in the new investors’ commitment to expansion, innovation, and continued financial support.

The acquiring consortium has emphasised that the transaction is designed to provide long-term capital and expertise to drive Nord Anglia’s expansion and innovation in premium education. Investors have pledged to maintain and enhance the institution’s global reputation by strengthening digital learning, student experience, and key partnerships with organisations such as UNICEF, Juilliard, MIT, King’s College London, and Harvard’s Project Zero.

EQT, a long-standing partner of Nord Anglia since 2008, has reaffirmed its dedication to the brand’s long-term success. With CPP Investments joining in 2017 and now Dubai Holding increasing its stake, the consortium aims to enhance the stability and growth of the education group.

The involvement of Dubai Holding in the acquisition is particularly noteworthy, as it could lead to greater investment in Nord Anglia’s UAE schools and even potential new school openings in the region. Industry analysts see this as a positive development for the premium education landscape in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, aligning with the UAE’s vision to provide world-class educational opportunities.
