Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma called upon students to become the architects of a “New Assam,” embracing emerging sectors like semiconductors, green energy, information technology, and ecotourism. Speaking at the 32nd convocation ceremony of Gauhati University, Dr. Sarma also announced a major financial boost of ₹250 crore for the university’s holistic development.

Presided over by Assam Governor and University Chancellor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, the convocation witnessed the Chief Minister highlighting Assam’s transformational journey over the past decade. He emphasized that students are increasingly becoming pivotal in leveraging the state’s investments in modern technologies.

Addressing the graduating class, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma urged them to rely on reason and conscience rather than being swayed by emotional rhetoric. He envisioned an Assam that, in the next twenty years, would surpass states like Maharashtra and Karnataka in economic and social development.

Reflecting on Assam’s parallel growth with the nation’s progress, he remarked that the state is steadily emerging as a hub of peace, prosperity, and opportunities. He emphasised the need for positive thinking and collective effort to establish Assam among the most dynamic states in India.

The Chief Minister assured graduates that the state government is actively working to create abundant opportunities within Assam, allowing young talents to realise their dreams without looking elsewhere. He underlined the importance of nurturing a new generation with entrepreneurial spirit and innovative skills, capable of leading the charge in startups and futuristic ventures.
