ASUS India partners with VIDYA to empower underprivileged youth with digital skills in Western India

ASUS India

ASUS India has partnered with VIDYA to launch a comprehensive Digital Literacy Program aimed at empowering children and young adults from underserved communities in Western India. This initiative will initially reach over 6,000 beneficiaries, including students from Grades 1 to 10 and young adults, equipping them with vital digital skills and knowledge through an engaging, project-based curriculum aligned with the United Nations Digital Literacy Framework.

The first phase of the program will roll out in Mumbai, with subsequent expansions planned for Goa and Gujarat. Through this collaboration, ASUS continues to strengthen its commitment to bridging the digital divide in India, enhancing access to technology and digital education among marginalized populations.

The initiative is set to make a direct impact on 5,480 children and 650 youth from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, many of whom are first-generation learners. State-of-the-art digital labs will be established in selected schools, providing a structured, weekly learning experience. Participants will explore foundational computer skills, digital storytelling, poster designing, and basic programming languages such as Scratch and Python. Additionally, the program places strong emphasis on digital citizenship, creativity, teamwork, and self-driven learning.

For older participants, the program will extend beyond basic literacy by offering certified training courses in partnership with leading organizations such as NIIT Foundation, NASSCOM Future Skills Prime, and Skill India Mission. These youth-focused modules include career counseling, English communication training, job-readiness workshops, and a robust alumni support system, ensuring smooth transition from education to employment. Internship opportunities and job placement support will further enhance practical career pathways.
