Imarticus Learning has acquired edtech startup MyCaptain for Rs 50 crore (around $6 million) in a major move to scale its presence in the non-tech career education space, professional education firm. This marks the fourth acquisition for Imarticus in the last four years, enhancing its workforce to over 850 professionals and strengthening its leadership with entrepreneurial talent from MyCaptain’s founding team.
Launched in 2016 by Mohammed Zeeshan, Sameer Ramesh, and Ruhan Naqash, MyCaptain is known for enabling students to explore unconventional career paths through mentorship by young achievers in creative and entrepreneurial domains. With a footprint in over 1,500 college campuses, MyCaptain’s user base is largely drawn from tier 2 and 3 cities—making up 60% of its customer segment—and 80% of its learners are focused on creative and startup-driven careers.
Backed by investors like Ankur Capital, Inflection Point Ventures, Firstport Ventures, and the Singapore Angel Network, MyCaptain had secured $4.7 million in funding and achieved Rs 27 crore in revenue last year, reaching EBITDA breakeven.
This acquisition allows Imarticus Learning to integrate MyCaptain’s popular employability bootcamps in fast-growing fields such as Digital Marketing, Design, and Content Creation across its 20+ physical learning centers in over 16 cities. It further aligns with Imarticus’ vision to expand deeper into tier 2 and tier 3 markets, with a goal to empower 5 million learners in the next three years.

Speaking on the latest acquisition, Nikhil Barshikar, Founder and CEO of Imarticus Learning, stated, “Our past acquisitions allowed us to diversify and adapt to learner needs. With MyCaptain, we’re going beyond tech to make non-traditional careers more accessible, especially in emerging cities.”
